Abstract: The union between different materials is increasingly having a greater importance, as it helps in reducing the weight of the components. In this context, Friction Stir Welding (FSW) friction welding was developed, where it was developed and patented at The Welding Institute (TWI) in the United Kingdom in 1991 (THOMAS et al., 1991), which consists of joining the materials in the solid state by plastic deformation through a non-consumable tool. The main parameters to obtain a quality joint in this process are the tool geometry, speed of rotation, feed rate and slope angle. The main objective of the present work is the analysis of an FSW friction weld between the aluminum (6060 T5) and the copper (C110) varying the speed of rotation in 1000, 1500 and 2000 rpm and the speed of advance in 10 and 20 mm / min, with the purpose of obtaining a quality joint, and as a specific objective, the analysis of the results through visual inspection, traction test and macrography. By obtaining a combination of the parameters, six welding parameters were made, where a machining center was used to perform the same. The tool used was manufactured with a SAE H13 steel and applied quenching and tempering, thus obtaining a hardness of approximately 54 HRC. With the results, a visual inspection was performed, which detected some defects, and in the tensile test it was possible to analyze the best welding parameter, through voltage and elongation graphs and statistical data, and for the macrography defects were detected in which were not visible to the naked eye. With these analyzes, we reached the best welding parameter for this union, and thus, the objectives proposed since work were achieved.
