Comportamento ingestivo de cordeiros Dorper x Santa Inês terminados em diferentes sistemas de produção

Abstract

The evaluation of the ingestive behavior of sheep is an important tool in the search for better productive results since it allows to identify with better precision variations in the behavioral activities in front of the food and environmental adversities found in the different production systems to which they are submitted. The work was conducted with the objective of evaluating the ingestive behavior of lambs Dorper x Santa Inês finishing in different production systems. The experiment was carried out at the Ovinocultura Sector of the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR) Campus Dois Vizinhos. Twenty-four Dorper x Santa Inês lambs not castrated were also distributed in three treatments T1 tropical pasture without shading; T2 tropical pasture with natural shading (silvipastoril); and T3 confinement in sheepfold. The ingestive behavior was evaluated at 5, 10, 15 and 20 minutes for two 24hour periods in which the time spent in minutes for feeding rumination and rest in standing or lying postures was observed in minutes. mineral salt and water intake and time spent on other activities. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics and analysis of variance. The means were compared by the Tukey test at 5% probability using the statistical package SAS®. There was a difference between the evaluation scales of ingestive behavior in T1 which was not verified in treatments T2 and T3. The time to perform the activities of lying rumination standing leisure feeding water intake salt and other activities of the ingestive behavior evaluated at intervals of 15 minutes were altered as a function of the treatments. Within the silvipastoril system there were variations of standing leisure activities and grazing between the line and the tree line. The time spent to remastigate the ruminal cake and to cover 10 grazing stations were also altered according to the treatments. It was observed that the dietary and environmental peculiarities present in the different production systems altered the ingestive behavior of lambs Dorper x Santa Inês and consequently the performance of the animals and therefore it is reiterated the importance of the evaluation of the behavioral parameters within the systems in order to ensure the efficiency of lamb production.
